But what truly separates the GT24 from the rest of the pack is where and how it is made.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eEvery Baumier rim is manufactured in house in Montreal Quebec, allowing the company to control the production process from raw material through finished rim, and maintain very tight control over quality. Each rim starts as premium dry carbon fiber, placed into model specific molds and centered around a CNC’d wax mandrel, which takes the place of a bladder. The largest benefit of the mandrel is its solid structure, which gives Baumier more precise control over the internal shape of their rims. Resin is introduced via Baumier’s proprietary Resin Flow Composite (RFC) process which was developed around aerospace-inspired manufacturing techniques to ensure accurate control over fiber-to-resin ratios. The aggregate of this manufacturing process creates an extremely accurate and stable product without the voids and defects often found rims made with a traditional mold and bladder approach. As important to Baumier, is that this manufacturing method draws less energy and produces much less waste – no need to refrigerate prepreg carbon, no bladders to throw away as used wax mandrels are recycled into new again, and the use of dry fiber and RFC means there is little to no waste of carbon or resin.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eBaumier has chosen to use braided carbon fiber, which is for more than just esthetics.
